Mission

Executive Summary of The Executive Committee of Non-Governmental Organizations Associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information (NGO/DPI Executive Committee) as set forth in the Bylaws.

The Executive Committee of Non-Governmental Organizations Associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information (NGO/DPI Executive Committee) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The Executive Committee acts as a liaison between the NGO community and DPI in connection with the provision of services, the production of materials, the use of UN facilities and all other matters that meet the information-related needs of NGOs associated with the UN.

The NGO/DPI Executive Committee is a service organization that helps UN-associated NGOs make effective use of the available information and material to increase knowledge about, and public understanding of, the UN purpose, structure, policies, actions and programmes.

The NGO/DPI Executive Committee is composed of eighteen elected representatives and alternate representatives of UN/DPI-associated NGOs who have time to devote to the work of the Executive Committee. Those elected are called Directors. Election to the Executive Committee is based on UN-associated organizational membership. However, once elected, each Executive Committee Director acts in the interests of the entire NGO community.
